The Rev. George B. Koch
1465 S. Neltnor (Rt. 59)
West Chicago, IL 60185

Dear Fr. Koch and the People of Resurrection:

I write this to you with sadness in my heart. Your leaving the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Chicago is not an event that I had ever wanted to happen. I know that you have come to your decision prayerfully and that you have carried out your decision with grace and integrity. So my heart is also filled with thanks for the way this parting has unfolded.

I know that you are excited about your future and I want you to know that during this period of being apart we will continue to hold you in our prayers. I pray that you will have a fruitful ministry and will bring many people to know and experience the grace of God through Jesus Christ. I am confident that you will also hold us in your prayers as well.

I also pray that by God’s good grace that there will come a time when we will join together once again. Regardless of whether or not that does happen I wish you well and truly hope for your success in your life as a congregation as we all serve together in our common mission of restoring all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.

In Christ’s love,

William D. Persell Bishop of Chicago
