Parent's Information
Policies/Procedures and General Information for Parents
Sunday School will begin
promptly at 10:00 a.m. Please bring your children to the Sign-In Table
between 9:50-9:55 a.m. so that they will not miss any of the activities.
Sign-In and Pager System
Because we are concerned with the welfare of each child, we
have implemented a sign-in procedure. Please sign in your children at the
“Sign-In Table” in the Ark between 9:50-9:55
a.m. and attach your child’s
nametag to his/her clothing. Families who attend Resurrection regularly will be
assigned a permanent pager number that is used for all children in their
family. Keep the security card with this number on it with you. At the end of class, you must present
the card to pick up your child. For the safety of our children, we will not
release children to siblings. If you are needed by your child’s teacher
during the service, you will be paged on the visual paging system in the
sanctuary.
Visiting Your Child’s Class
All parents are welcome and encouraged to visit their
child’s class so that they can see the Children’s Ministry firsthand and get to
know their child’s Sunday school teachers. If you would like to visit your
child’s class or stay with your youngest child until he or she feels
comfortable, please register at the Sign-In Table so that we can give you proper
identification to wear in the classroom. We follow this procedure for the
safety of our children. Thank you for your cooperation.
Volunteering
In order to provide a quality program for your children, we
depend on the involvement of parents like you. We encourage you to serve in one
of the many roles that are available in the Sunday School program (a list is
provided on the Registration form). Since we believe that we as adults have
much to learn from the way children understand and worship God, we are confident
that you will grow as you serve alongside children.
Sick Child Policy
We offer the following guidelines to parents to limit the
exposure of other children to infection and illness. Please do not bring your
child to church if he or she has been exposed to any contagious diseases or has
any of the following symptoms: a temperature of 100 degrees or higher, vomiting
within 24 hours, a runny nose with green or yellow mucous, or a contagious rash
or severe diarrhea within 24 hours. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering
to these guidelines for the health of all of our children.
Discipline
We feel that we can help children learn Christian behavior
by modeling it. Our teachers are trained to use positive reinforcement to
create an atmosphere of cooperation. If a child is disrupting the class, the
teacher will first give gentle verbal correction. If a child does not respond,
our teachers are instructed to remove a child kindly but firmly to a quiet
corner for “time-out.” Removal from the classroom is a last resort. If we see
that your child is having a difficult time, we will page you. Please encourage
your child to obey his or her teachers and participate in the planned
activities. Any specific or unusual instructions about disciplining your child
should be discussed with your child’s teacher at the beginning of the ministry
year.
